Union Pacific signs seven-year rail supply contract with Rocky Mountain Steel Mills
UNP•Union Pacific starts receiving rail from new Pueblo mill
Union Pacific received the first long rail from Rocky Mountain Steel Mills’ new rail mill in Pueblo, Colorado, marking the start of operations.
The companies signed a new seven-year contract in April for domestic steel rail supply, with Union Pacific set to buy most of its rail from the mill.
The new facility represents a USD 1.2 billion investment, producing 100-meter rails that require 80% fewer welds than standard 80-foot rail.
