United Airlines is capping one-way Spirit flight fares at $199 for most routes and $299 for longer trips through May 16, bookable at united.com/specialfares with a Spirit confirmation number and MileagePlus membership. The airline is also granting Spirit employees two-week pass travel benefits and prioritizing their job applications.

1. Special Fare Offerings

United Airlines has opened its specialfares portal at united.com/specialfares, where customers with Spirit tickets can book one-way itineraries at capped rates of $199 for most routes and $299 for longer flights between May 2 and May 16. Travelers must provide their Spirit confirmation number, proof of purchase and a MileagePlus membership number to qualify. This measure covers all Spirit departure cities including Atlanta, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale and others.

2. Employee Assistance

Spirit Airlines employees are eligible for United's standard pass travel benefits for two weeks, allowing them to secure space-available flights to return home or reach new destinations. United is also giving hiring preference to Spirit staff through a dedicated application portal, highlighting open roles and expediting recruiter reviews. The move aims to support the workforce during Spirit's operational shutdown.

3. Service Enhancements

United promotes its enhanced onboard experience to attract displaced Spirit customers, emphasizing its award-winning mobile app, updated aircraft with seatback screens and Bluetooth connectivity, and comprehensive global route network. With the world's largest available seat miles, the airline underscores reliable service and expanded transcontinental and international flights. These features are positioned as differentiators during the special fare period.
