UnitedHealth shares look ready to extend rally
UNH•UnitedHealth shares rose 80% from March to July, then gave back about half their gains before rebounding from an October 1 low of $362.60. Technical indicators suggest they could rise toward $437 to $440, with a fall below $400 raising questions about the rally.
1. Pullback finds support
UnitedHealth Group shares rose 80% between March and July, reaching $461.62, then gave back about half of that gain over the next 2-1/2 months and bottomed at $362.60 on October 1. The retreat ended near the 50% retracement of the rally, which aligned with support from highs and lows in September and October 2025.
2. Potential levels ahead
Bollinger Bands, MACD and RSI all suggest UnitedHealth is gaining upward momentum. Shares could rise toward $437 to $440, then face resistance near the 200-week moving average around $448; a further target is $455 to $460. A fall below $400 would raise serious questions about the stock's ability to rally. The company referred to its October 13 earnings call, where CEO Stephen J. Hemsley said its raised 2026 profit forecast reinforced confidence in growing in 2027 and beyond within its “13% to 16% long-term target growth range.”
