Sept. 1 (Reuters) - UnitedHealthcare:
- Under a rural initiative, speeding payments by up to 50% for about 1,400 rural hospitals and critical access hospitals in Q3
- Rural prior authorization waiver program to reduce about 70% of prior authorization volume for eligible providers
- Plans to reduce prior authorizations by 30%, no longer requiring approvals for a range of conditions from Oct. 1
- Now seen 80% increase in number of provider groups that have qualified for Gold Card program
- Rural prior authorization waiver program for eligible rural hospitals and affiliated providers to begin Nov. 1
