Operating income rose to $516.68 million; operating margin narrowed 0.6 percentage points to 11.1% on higher operating costs.
Interest expense, net increased 13% to $39.91 million, lifting pre-tax income 1% to $479.13 million.
Acute care performance
Acute care same-facility net revenues increased 8.2% to $2.51 billion; pre-tax income was flat at $227.65 million as a new Florida hospital weighed.
Behavioral health and Talkspace
Behavioral health same-facility net revenues rose 7.4% to $1.93 billion; pre-tax income increased 9% to $427.4 million, with the Talkspace deal targeted to close in Q3.
