Universal Technical Institute Adds EV and BHEV Training at 13 Campuses
UTI•Universal Technical Institute has integrated battery hybrid electric vehicle and electric vehicle courses into its core Automotive Technology programs at 13 campuses nationwide. Students will train on Ford Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai IONIQ 5 or FIAT 500e vehicles, mastering high-voltage operation, system diagnosis and service protocols.
1. Rollout Achievement
Universal Technical Institute has completed integration of battery hybrid electric vehicle (BHEV) and electric vehicle (EV) courses into its core Automotive Technology programs at 13 campuses, including UTI-Austin, UTI-Avondale, UTI-Bloomfield, UTI-Dallas, UTI-Exton, UTI-Houston, UTI-Lisle, UTI-Long Beach, UTI-Miramar, UTI-Mooresville, UTI-Orlando, UTI-Rancho Cucamonga and UTI-Sacramento.
2. Curriculum Features
The updated curriculum introduces high-voltage vehicle operation, electric component function, system diagnosis and service, electronic principles and specialized battery system testing. Hands-on training uses Ford Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai IONIQ 5 and FIAT 500e platforms to prepare students for complex EV repairs.
3. Future Expansion and Impact
EV and BHEV courses will launch as standard offerings at upcoming Automotive Technology program campuses in Atlanta and Salt Lake City, as well as all future locations. This expansion addresses the growing fleet of millions of EV and hybrid vehicles on the road and rising demand for qualified technicians.
