UPS•This summer UPS will begin offering time-definite, heavy freight air service on its own aircraft between the United States and Mexico, with one-day, two-day and three-day options and truck segments to gateways. The company invested nearly $50 million to develop a cross-border UPS Ground service for shipments over 150 pounds.
1. New Time-Definite Freight Air Service
This summer UPS will launch time-definite heavy freight air service on its own aircraft for the first time between the United States and Mexico. Customers can choose one-day, two-day or three-day delivery options, with truck segments from origin to gateway airports to improve speed and predictability for high-value shipments.
2. $50M Cross-Border Ground Expansion
UPS has invested nearly $50 million to establish a cross-border UPS Ground service with freight pricing for shipments over 150 pounds. The new offering uses the existing parcel network as a less-than-truckload solution, eliminating the need for pallets and simplifying multi-package freight movements.
3. Route Coverage and Network Integration
Scheduled UPS flights will connect Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey with U.S. hubs. Ground transport will feed gateways such as El Paso and Dallas for onward air carriage to destinations across the U.S. and Canada, while some shipments may transit entirely by road.
4. Strategic Focus on High-Value Shipments
The initiative aligns with UPS’s shift away from low-margin parcel volumes toward high-value, time-sensitive industrial and automotive goods. Over 300 industry-specific experts will support customers navigating tariffs, regulations and fuel cost volatility to optimize cross-border logistics.
