UPS to cut holiday hiring for second straight year
UPS•UPS said it will hire 100,000 seasonal U.S. employees ahead of the holiday season, about 9% fewer than in 2025 and its second straight annual reduction.
1. Seasonal hiring plan
UPS said it will hire 100,000 seasonal employees across the U.S. to help sort, move and deliver packages during the holiday rush. Daily parcel volumes tend to double during the busiest period, from late November to early January.
2. Workforce reductions
UPS hired 15,000 fewer seasonal workers in 2025 than the 125,000 it hired in 2024. In January, the company said it would cut up to 30,000 operational jobs and close 24 facilities in 2026 as it scales down shipments for its largest customer, Amazon, and shifts toward more profitable shipments.
