U.S. Air Force taps Salesforce to oversee $13.5B, 84,000-vehicle fleet
CRM•Salesforce’s Missionforce National Security platform will manage the U.S. Air Force’s 84,000-vehicle fleet valued at $13.5 billion across 389 locations under IL5-authorized Government Cloud Plus Defense. Since deployment, the 85-member squadron processed over 51,000 asset requests and cut emergency deployment planning time from days to minutes with MELRAT.
1. Air Force Fleet Management Deal
The U.S. Air Force’s 441st Vehicle Support Chain Operations Squadron selected Salesforce’s Missionforce National Security platform to oversee a fleet valued at $13.5 billion, covering more than 84,000 vehicles across 389 global locations. The deployment replaces the legacy system and supports the squadron’s mission to maintain readiness for over 7,300 personnel.
2. Platform Security and Hosting
The solution runs on Salesforce Government Cloud Plus Defense with Impact Level 5 (IL5) authorization, meeting stringent security standards for sensitive government workloads. It integrates data from multiple enterprise resource planning systems into a unified environment, offering commanders consolidated visibility over vehicle status and maintenance.
3. Operational Efficiency Gains
Since going live, the platform has processed more than 51,000 vehicle asset movement requests, streamlining logistics workflows. A new contingency planning app, MELRAT, has reduced emergency deployment planning from several days to just minutes, while ongoing AI pilots aim to automate data entry, verify VINs and predict maintenance needs.
4. Broader Military Contracts
This deployment builds on Salesforce’s existing U.S. defense agreements, including a $72 million enterprise license with the Department of the Air Force and a $5.6 billion IDIQ contract with the U.S. Army. These contracts underscore Salesforce’s expanding role across federal military operations and its potential for future revenue growth.
