Corn ethanol bids mixed as futures rise
Spot corn basis bids were mixed at ethanol plants and mostly steady at elevators and other processors.
A soy processor in Morristown, Indiana, raised its spot basis bid by 5 cents a bushel on Thursday. A crusher in Council Bluffs, Iowa, was offering sizable premiums for beans delivered in early September.
The spot basis bid at a Union City, Indiana, ethanol plant for corn was cut by 15 cents a bushel following a spike in futures prices this week. But a Council Bluffs plant raised its basis bid by 2 cents a bushel on good demand.
CBOT corn futures Cv1 climbed above $5 a bushel on Thursday, hitting the highest point for a most-active contract since February 2025. The most-active soybean Sv1 contract rose to a 3-1/2 week peak.
