US crude stocks rise by most since January 2023, EIA data shows

U.S. commercial crude oil inventories rose by 17.4 million barrels in the week ended August 7, the most since January 2023, data from the Energy Information Administration showed on Wednesday.
The jump in stockpiles was accompanied by a surge in imports. U.S. commercial crude imports hit 7.3 million barrels per day last week, the most since November 2024, the EIA data showed.
