US Energy Department scraps three proposed electric power corridors
XLU•Energy Department drops three transmission corridor designations
WASHINGTON, Aug. 12 (Reuters) - The U.S. Department of Energy will not move forward with designating three proposed "National Interest Electric Transmission Corridors" that were previously selected by the Biden administration, Energy Secretary Chris Wright said in a statement on Wednesday.
The canceled projects include the Lake Erie-Canada Corridor, the Southwestern Grid Connector Corridor and the Tribal Energy Access Corridor.
"The current designation framework proved ineffective in strengthening grid reliability and reducing electricity costs," the statement said.
