US holiday online sales to grow 6.7% as discounts attract shoppers, Adobe Analytics forecasts
XLY•Adobe Analytics forecasts US online sales will rise 6.7% this holiday season to $275.1 billion, from $257.8 billion a year earlier, as promotions attract deal-seeking shoppers.
1. Sales forecast
US online sales in November and December are forecast to grow 6.7% to $275.1 billion, Adobe Analytics said. The forecast is based on more than 1 trillion visits to US retail sites, 100 million product listings and 18 product categories.
2. Holiday shopping deals
Discounts are expected to peak at 30% on Cyber Monday, with the deepest markdowns on electronics and computers. Black Friday is likely to offer the best deals on TVs, toys, apparel, appliances and furniture. Cyber Monday spending is forecast to reach $15 billion, up 6.2%; Black Friday online sales are seen rising 9.2% to $12.9 billion, while Thanksgiving online sales are forecast to increase 8.5%.
