WASHINGTON, Sept. 14 (Reuters) - The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board said responses by the Federal Aviation Administration to 11 of 33 recommendations made by the board after a 2025 mid-air collision killed 67 people near Washington were unacceptable.
The January 2025 collision of an American Airlines AAL.O regional jet and an Army Black Hawk helicopter near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport killed 67 people and was the deadliest U.S. aviation disaster in more than two decades. The NTSB said the FAA had not agreed to mandate a key safety system known as ADS-B In, which was one of the board's recommendations.
