December K.C. wheat futures settled up 4.5 cents at $7.37½ per bushel, their first higher close in eight sessions, lifted by bargain buying and increased global export tenders. Thunderstorms brought moisture to Kansas during winter wheat planting, though the National Weather Service warned of localized flooding; forecasts projected drier weather over the next two weeks.
Severe drought affected much of Oklahoma and Texas in the week ended September 29, while conditions eased in Kansas. Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City fell 2 cents per bushel for wheat with 12.6% and 12.8% protein; premiums for other grades were unchanged.
