1. AI disclosures under review
The SEC is examining AI companies’ corporate disclosures as investor worries mount over a potential bubble that may have been fueled by circular deals. Enforcement Director David Woodcock said the agency wants issuers to accurately disclose material information about risks and that enforcement will be present when they do not.
2. Private and prediction markets
Woodcock said the SEC’s asset management unit is focused on conflicts of interest and valuations in private markets, and he expects more enforcement activity in the area. The agency is also working with policy officials and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to monitor prediction markets, including equity-linked markets, while seeking to avoid regulating the new industry through enforcement actions.
