1. States ease fuel rules
States are taking steps to curb diesel and gasoline prices after supply disruptions pushed costs higher. Diesel reached a record $6.53 a gallon a week ago, AAA data showed.
2. Tax and regulatory changes
Georgia suspended its gasoline and diesel tax for 30 days, while Ohio suspended its gas and diesel tax for 90 days. Other states have paused or suspended fuel taxes, allowed highway use of red-dyed diesel, eased weight restrictions or permitted different fuel blends.
3. Measures vary by state
California suspended its seasonal summer-blend gasoline requirement for the remainder of the season and allowed winter-blend gasoline to be manufactured, imported, distributed and sold immediately. Texas said it would expand the use of dyed diesel on state roads, raise allowable weight limits for fuel, agricultural and timber transport, and suspend low-emission diesel fuel regulations.
