U.S. stock futures fell, with Dow futures down 0.2%, S&P 500 futures down 0.15% and Nasdaq 100 futures down 0.32%, ahead of August PCE inflation and second-quarter GDP data. Boeing rose 2.1% after being selected for a $20 billion Navy fighter contract.
U.S. stock index futures fell in choppy trading Wednesday as technology shares eased ahead of inflation and GDP data due at 8:30 a.m. ET. Economists polled by Reuters expected August PCE inflation to show an annual rate of 3.7%; traders were nearly evenly split on the chance of an October rate hike, down from a more than 70% chance a week earlier.
As of the previous close, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq were on pace for a second straight quarterly gain. The Dow was set for a quarterly decline and its first monthly fall since March. The 10-year Treasury yield stood at 5.236%, close to its highest since June 2007 in the previous session.
Boeing climbed 2.1% after the Pentagon selected it to build the U.S. Navy's next-generation stealth fighter, beating Northrop Grumman for a development contract worth $20 billion. Northrop shares fell 3.5%. Robinhood gained 2.2% after saying it would let users trade some U.S. stocks around the clock on weekends.
