US Stocks-Nasdaq, S&P 500 climb as oil retreat tempers pre-Fed jitters

At 11:46 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 2.73 points, or 0.01%, to 52,095.84, the S&P 500 gained 31.43 points, or 0.41%, to 7,617.13 and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 202.30 points, or 0.78%, to 26,183.87.
"The market is incredibly resilient. It has every reason to fall in a meaningful way, and yet it isn't," said Adam Sarhan, director at MarketTerminal.com.
Oil prices dipped after reports that Saudi Arabia was offering additional crude cargoes via Oman eased concerns about the scale of Middle East supply disruptions.
Brent crude futures were down over 3% at $105.17 and U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell nearly 4% to $101.77.
The S&P 500 energy index was the worst-performing sector index, down 2.3%, with Exxon Mobil and Chevron falling more than 2% each.
