US files lawsuit claiming Google denied employee job after military deployment
The US sued Google, alleging it did not restore a reservist to his former or a similar job after a year of military leave. The complaint says he was later fired in August 2024 during a broader workforce reduction.
1. Lawsuit alleges job denial
The US filed a lawsuit accusing Google of failing to give Mark Davisson his old job back or place him in a similar role after he returned from a year of military leave as an Army reservist. Davisson had spent 2-1/2 years as a key account executive handling accounts for BlackRock, Bridgewater Associates and the former Credit Suisse.
2. Role change and dismissal
The complaint alleges that after Davisson returned in May 2023, Google would not let him handle customer accounts, although he kept his pay and title. Google later assigned him to a cloud solutions position that also did not involve managing customer accounts, then fired him in August 2024 as part of a broader workforce reduction.
