WASHINGTON, Sept 16 (Reuters) - U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said on Wednesday the Trump administration is temporarily relaxing its hours of service rules for truck drivers handling gasoline and diesel.
Duffy said the action was because short-term supply chain disruptions can delay gasoline and diesel shipments, which could impact freight deliveries. The 90-day waiver effective Wednesday allows drivers to operate up to 16 hours within a 24-hour window, as long as they take required rest breaks.
