Repurchase size increased from previous operation
The government had announced on Wednesday that it would repurchase up to $6 billion in debt of that maturity range — triple the maximum amount offered in the previous operation.
Last month, the Treasury said it would double the size of its buybacks on longer-dated securities to at least $4 billion, aiming to support liquidity after yields jumped and the 30-year yield hit its highest level since 2007.
Treasury buys back $5.187 billion in 10- to 20-year bonds
The U.S. Treasury Department said Thursday that it bought back $5.187 billion in 10- to 20-year bonds as part of its ongoing buyback operation to support market liquidity.
Bonds worth $10.489 billion were offered during the operation.
