U.S. yields rise, 30-year bond yield hits highest since 2004

U.S. Treasury yields mostly rose on Thursday, extending the bond market’s sell-off, and the 30-year yield earlier touched its highest level since 2004. The 10-year yield gained 1.1 basis points to 5.125%, and the 30-year yield rose 1.8 basis points to 5.42%.
2. Investors assess rates
Bond prices fell on Wednesday after a stronger-than-expected U.S. purchasing managers’ report renewed inflation concerns and led traders to increase bets on Federal Reserve rate hikes. Investors were also watching a seven-year Treasury note auction on Thursday, after a poor five-year note auction the previous day. The two-year yield fell 1.8 basis points to 4.877%.
