USA Rare Earth produces commercial-grade dysprosium, NdPr oxide samples from recycled magnet scrap at Colorado facility
USAR•Additional campaigns underway for more oxide products
Campaigns are underway to process material from the Round Top project and Serra Verde’s Pela Ema mine, targeting additional oxide products in coming weeks.
The milestone positions the group among few Western operators able to separate heavy rare earths such as dysprosium at commercial purity.
Commercial-grade rare earth oxides produced from recycled magnet scrap
USA Rare Earth produced commercial-grade dysprosium oxide and NdPr oxide samples from recycled NdFeB magnet swarf at its Wheat Ridge, Colorado facility.
Output is slated for qualification at subsidiary Less Common Metals in the UK, then conversion into metals and alloys for US magnet plants.
Recycled swarf is projected to supply up to 30% of future magnetic rare earth oxide feedstock needs, tightening a closed-loop supply chain.
