USTR Greer: Not getting as much critical minerals from China as desired
XLB•Greer says U.S. still lacks desired flow of rare earths from China
The U.S. is still not getting the desired amount of rare earth minerals from China despite agreements struck last year to increase the flow of those critical manufacturing inputs, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said on Wednesday.
"We are getting a flow of critical minerals from China. It's not as much as we would want, it's not at the pace that we would want, but we are getting them," Greer said. "We're getting the majority of what we need."
More importantly, Greer said, "We are accelerating domestic production to get away from that dependency."
