Vail Resorts upgrades Okemo snowmaking to cut annual diesel use by 250,000 gallons

Vail Resorts outlined major snowmaking upgrades at Okemo Mountain Resort as its largest energy and emissions-reduction project of 2026.

• The project targets elimination of about 250,000 gallons of diesel consumption per year through a shift from diesel to electric compressors.
• The upgrades are expected to expand snowmaking capacity, improve efficiency, support earlier openings, and improve recovery from warm-weather events.
• The Okemo investment is part of Vail Resorts’ 2026 core capital program of about $215 million to $220 million.
