Vale expanded its partnership with ABB to roll out automation, AI, and digital systems across its Brazil iron-ore processing plants.
The deal replicates technologies used at the Conceição II “model plant” in Itabira to lift safety, operating performance, and process predictability.
The Brucutu plant is implementing the systems now, with start-up targeted for early next year.
Vale said Conceição II has logged 25% productivity gains, 40% growth in premium direct-reduction ore output, and 26% lower iron losses in tailings.
