Vale said 19 additional eligible municipalities joined the Definitive Agreement tied to the Fundão dam collapse litigation.
The total participation rose to 45 of 49 eligible municipalities, expanding the settlement’s coverage across affected local governments.
Joining municipalities must waive related lawsuits in Brazil or abroad to receive a one-time payment equal to three prior installments. Payment is due within 30 days of court ratification of the terms; later installments follow the agreement’s schedule.
