Valero McKee refinery in Texas reports emissions
VLO•Valero reported emissions from three flares at its McKee refinery in Texas. The refinery said protective instrumentation detected compressor parameters on October 13, 2026, triggering a designed safe condition, and established procedures were followed to manage the response.
1. Emissions reported
Valero reported emissions from FCCU flare FL-3, HCU flare FL-4 and the No. 1 main refinery flare FL-1 at its McKee, Texas, refinery. On October 13, 2026, protective instrumentation on a compressor in Complex 1 detected parameters that caused the machine to move to a safe condition as designed.
2. Response and capacity
Valero said established procedures were followed to carry out a controlled and managed response to minimize emissions. The refinery has a capacity of 195,000 barrels per day.
