Valero Port Arthur refinery stack test showed emissions exceeded limit
VLO•Valero reported that an August 19 particulate matter stack test at its Port Arthur, Texas, refinery found emissions above the applicable limit. The refinery was temporarily operated outside normal conditions during the test, and atypical operating parameters inadvertently contributed to the exceedance.

Valero reported that a particulate matter stack test on the fluid catalytic cracker wet gas scrubber at its Port Arthur, Texas, refinery showed emissions above the applicable limit. The test was conducted on August 19.
2. Operating conditions
Valero said the fluid catalytic cracker was temporarily operated outside normal conditions during the test and that atypical operating parameters inadvertently contributed to increased particulate matter emissions. The refinery has capacity of 385,000 barrels per day.
