Vattenfall awards Fluence contract for 1 GWh Brunsbüttel battery storage project in Germany
FLNC•Vattenfall signed an agreement with Fluence for a 254 MW, 1,000+ MWh battery storage facility in Brunsbüttel, Germany. Construction is expected to start in 2027, with operations targeted by the end of 2028.
1. Project details
Fluence will provide turnkey engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and long-term service support for the facility, which will use its Gridstack Pro 5000 platform and be designed as a four-hour system. The project is set to be Vattenfall’s largest battery project and is expected to nearly double its existing battery storage capacity.
2. Construction timeline
Construction is expected to start in 2027, with operations targeted by the end of 2028. The facility is planned to connect to 50Hertz’s 380 kV network.
