Vaxart says oral H5N1 vaccine candidate delivers 100% survival in ferret study
VXRT•Vaxart reported a peer-reviewed preclinical study in which ferrets given its oral H5N1 vaccine candidate VXA-H5-02 survived a lethal challenge, while unvaccinated ferrets died. The study also found reduced infection markers and immune activity against multiple H5 strains; the candidate has not been tested in humans.

Vaxart reported publication of a peer-reviewed preclinical study of its oral H5N1 avian flu vaccine candidate, VXA-H5-02. Vaccinated ferrets survived a lethal H5N1 challenge, while unvaccinated animals died. The data also showed reduced infection markers and immune activity against multiple H5 strains; the program remains preclinical, with no human testing reported.
