Venture Global asks federal regulators to place its Plaquemines LNG plant in service
VG•Venture Global asked federal regulators to authorize Phase 1 of its Plaquemines LNG plant in Louisiana to enter service, a final step before commercial operations. The company previously said it planned to begin commercial operations on October 31.
1. Phase 1 request
Venture Global asked federal regulators to authorize placing all of Phase 1 of its Plaquemines LNG plant into service. The company said the request followed successful commissioning operations; approval would allow it to sell LNG to long-term customers, including Shell.
2. Commercial operations and prices
Venture Global previously said it would begin commercial operations on October 31. LNG prices averaged above $25 per million British thermal units in September at the European TTF and Asian JKM benchmarks, and the company has benefited from high spot prices during commissioning. Plaquemines is the second-largest U.S. LNG facility.
