VEON unit Banglalink launches Starlink-powered satellite-to-mobile service in Bangladesh
VEON•Banglalink launched a Starlink-powered satellite-to-mobile service in Bangladesh, the first rollout in South Asia. It is intended to provide connectivity during emergencies, natural disasters and prolonged power outages, and requires a 4G handset and Banglalink SIM.
1. Service launch
Banglalink’s service extends coverage beyond conventional mobile networks and is available through the MyBL app, with a later rollout planned for the RYZE app. The launch extends VEON’s satellite-to-mobile strategy, following Kyivstar’s Starlink launch in Ukraine in 2025 and Beeline Kazakhstan’s launch in September 2026.
