VEON unit Banglalink secured a Bangladesh Bank Payment Service Provider licence to enter digital payments with its Mukto Pay service.

Mukto Pay targets a September 2026 commercial launch, pending remaining regulatory clearances and technical readiness.

VEON expands financial services footprint in Bangladesh

The move extends VEON’s financial services footprint, with Q2 2026 financial services revenue at USD 151 million within USD 342 million digital revenue.

Banglalink reported Q2 2026 revenue up 4.1% year-on-year in BDT terms, with underlying EBITDA up 13.6%.

VEON also applied for a Digital Bank licence in Bangladesh as it expands beyond payments.
