Verizon will boost 5G spectrum at FIFA World Cup 2026 venues by three- to fivefold, supporting over 50 terabytes of data per match with antennas and 140 small cells. The company will deploy private 5G, fixed wireless access and fiber to power broadcasts and upgrade networks in host communities.

Verizon serves as Official Telecommunication Services Sponsor for FIFA World Cup 2026™ and Official Tournament Supporter for FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™, deploying its network across stadiums and FIFA Fan Festival™ sites to handle event communications and fan engagement services.

2. Network Upgrades and Capacity

The company added 5G spectrum to boost stadium capacity by three to five times, anticipating over 50 terabytes of data per match, and installed antennas plus 140 small cells in and around host venues to ensure reliable connectivity.

3. Technology Deployments

Verizon is rolling out private 5G networks, 5G Fixed Wireless Access and high-capacity fiber to power broadcast transmission, support Lenovo Referee View body cameras, enable mobile concessions and deliver network slicing for priority applications throughout the tournament footprint.

Beyond the event, Verizon’s investments upgrade local fiber and wireless infrastructure in host cities, enhancing broadband access for residents, supporting education, healthcare, public safety and establishing a lasting digital legacy for years after the matches conclude.
