Vertiv Integrates EnergyCore BESS with CPower VPP, Monetizes 1MW Ohio Microgrid
Vertiv integrated its EnergyCore Grid BESS with CPower’s VPP platform to help U.S. data centers monetize behind-the-meter storage and energy assets for demand response and grid services. A 1MW microgrid in Ohio combining BESS, solar, hydrogen fuel and UPS systems generated demand response revenue, on-bill savings and supported PJM.
1. Collaboration and Integration
Vertiv has integrated its EnergyCore Grid BESS with CPower’s Virtual Power Plant platform to enable data centers to deploy behind-the-meter storage and flexible energy assets for demand response and grid services, while enhancing facility resilience and interconnection strategies.
2. Ohio Microgrid Deployment
At its Customer Experience Center in Ohio, Vertiv launched a 1MW microgrid combining battery energy storage, solar panels, hydrogen fuel cells and UPS systems; the installation generated demand response revenues, secured on-bill savings and supported PJM capacity, economic and ancillary service programs.
3. Strategic Impact
This collaboration addresses projected data center power usage doubling by 2030 and the growing bring-your-own-power model; by monetizing on-site energy assets, Vertiv can offset capital expenses and create a scalable template for future deployments across grid-constrained markets.
