Vertiv strikes $1.45 billion deal for microgrid firm Utility Innovation Group

Sept. 2 (Reuters) - Vertiv Holdings said on Wednesday it would acquire Utility Innovation Group, a provider of microgrid solutions and advanced data center power control systems, for about $1.45 billion in cash.

Shares of the power and cooling equipment maker were down about 2% in premarket trading.

Interest in microgrids and onsite power systems has been rising as data center operators seek alternatives to constrained utility grids amid an AI-driven boom in power demand.

The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
