Survey finds persistent mobile coverage gaps
Viasat-5GAA survey found 76% of drivers lose mobile signal weekly, underscoring persistent coverage gaps for connected-car services.
Coverage shortfalls and premium upsell potential
Connectivity shortfalls were more acute in Indonesia, India and Brazil; 66% of Indonesian drivers spend at least one hour weekly out of coverage.
Premium upsell potential was also highlighted, with 45% showing interest in higher-data satellite broadband for features such as high-resolution streaming or software updates.
Drivers show willingness to pay for satellite connectivity
About 75% of respondents would pay for satellite-based connectivity, signalling potential new revenue streams for automakers, telcos and satellite operators.
