Since its 2018 launch, SB-S has seen a 42% average annual adoption rate and is projected to be operational on more than 1,200 aircraft by year-end. This growth underscores ongoing airline investment in situational awareness and operational efficiency tools.
3. Integration with ESA-Backed Iris Program
SB-S supports communications with air traffic control, engine monitoring, fuel efficiency analytics, real-time weather updates, telemedicine and preventive maintenance. It also serves as a core component of the Iris satellite communication system co-developed with the European Space Agency for air traffic management.
