VIAVI Solutions, Square Peg Partner to Deliver Integrated RLS-2100 and TM500 5G NTN Test Platform
VIAV•VIAVI Solutions has entered a strategic partnership with Square Peg Communications to integrate the RLS-2100 emulator and TM500 Network Tester for end-to-end 5G non-terrestrial network (NTN) validation. The joint offering targets satellite channel emulation, mobility handovers and hybrid terrestrial-satellite interoperability to accelerate product development and de-risk deployments.
1. Strategic Partnership Overview
VIAVI Solutions has formed a strategic collaboration with Square Peg Communications to create an end-to-end 5G non-terrestrial network test platform. Combining the Square Peg RLS-2100 emulator with the VIAVI TM500 Network Tester, the partnership enables comprehensive validation of satellite and terrestrial system interoperability.
2. Technical Integration and Capabilities
The integrated platform addresses key 5G NTN performance requirements, such as large Doppler shifts, long propagation delays and multi-satellite handovers. Users can emulate gNodeB infrastructure, NR validation procedures and hybrid service continuity in realistic lab environments.
3. Market Impact and Use Cases
Network operators, chipset vendors and device manufacturers gain access to pre-certification testing and standards-based verification tools that de-risk product development. The solution supports scenarios including beam handovers, channel emulation and mobility testing for LEO constellations.
4. Future Outlook
By expanding its wireless test portfolio into non-terrestrial networks, VIAVI positions itself for growth in the emerging 5G NTN market. Accelerated time-to-market for D2D connectivity and integrated space-terrestrial services could drive increased demand for the combined test offering.
