Viking Therapeutics launches oral maintenance dosing trial of obesity drug VK2735
VKTX•Viking Therapeutics launched an exploratory trial testing oral maintenance dosing of VK2735 after initial weight loss from injections. Results from the oral-focused phase are expected in 2027, while two Phase 3 studies of weekly injections remain fully enrolled.
1. Oral maintenance study
The trial will test whether oral tablets or less-frequent injections can sustain earlier weight loss, while tracking safety and drug exposure. Top-line results from an earlier subcutaneous maintenance phase have already been reported.
2. Phase 3 studies
Two Phase 3 studies of weekly subcutaneous VK2735 remain fully enrolled.
