Virgin Galactic completes structural testing of spaceship feather assembly
SPCE•Virgin Galactic completed structural testing of its lead Delta-class spaceship’s feather assembly and now expects its first commercial spaceflight in early Q2 2027. The second spaceship is expected to begin commercial operations in late Q2 or early Q3 2027.
1. Testing and schedule
Structural testing of the feather assembly is complete, and factory work is shifting to the wing and fuselage structural test assembly. Virgin Galactic said the revised schedule allows additional time for avionics software integration and validation, with testing concluding at Spaceport America.
2. Spaceport arrival
The lead spaceship is scheduled to arrive at Spaceport America on October 28, transitioning from assembly to flight-test preparations.
