Visa results beat estimates as resilient customers keep up spending
V•Visa beat fourth-quarter profit expectations, earning an adjusted $3.48 per share against estimates of $3.44. Revenue rose 13% to $12.1 billion, while payments volume increased 9% and cross-border volume excluding intra-Europe rose 14%.
1. Spending stays resilient
Visa beat expectations for fourth-quarter results as customers continued spending on travel, shopping and dining. Payments volume on its network rose 9% on a constant-dollar basis, and processed transactions increased 10%. Finance chief Chris Suh said spending growth across consumer bands remained relatively consistent with prior quarters.
2. Incentives and forecast
Client incentives rose 21% year over year to $5.1 billion, largely driven by new deals signed from July through early in the fourth quarter. Visa expects incentives growth to step up in fiscal 2027, when around 25% of its payments volumes are expected to be renewed, compared with 20% in fiscal 2026. The company forecast fiscal 2027 profit-per-share growth between low-double-digit and low-teens percentages and net revenue growth in the low-double-digit percentage range.
3. Travel lifts cross-border volumes
Cross-border volumes excluding intra-Europe rose 14% on a constant-dollar basis. Visa reported net revenue of $12.1 billion for the quarter and record fiscal 2026 net revenue of $46 billion. Its shares fell about 1.4% in extended trading.
