Vishay unveils 65% smaller 600 mm sensor and IEEE-compliant ESD diode
Vishay introduced the VCNL36758 proximity sensor in a 5.0×2.0×1.5 mm package, offering up to 600 mm detection and 65% smaller volume than prior models. The company also confirmed its VETH100A1DD1 ESD protection diode meets IEEE 10BASE-T1S, 100BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1 compliance for automotive Ethernet.
1. High-Sensitivity VCNL36758 Proximity Sensor
Vishay’s Optoelectronics group released the VCNL36758, a surface-mount proximity sensor integrating an IR emitter, photodiode, amplifier and 12-bit ADC in a 5.0×2.0×1.5 mm package. The device delivers medium-distance detection up to 600 mm with 65% volume reduction versus previous models, intelligent background-light cancellation, programmable interrupts and an active-force mode for one-time measurements. Operating from 1.7 V to 3.6 V and temperature-compensated from –40 °C to +85 °C, the sensor targets smart home, industrial, office and automotive applications. Samples and production units are available now with a 16-week lead time.
2. VETH100A1DD1 ESD Diode Achieves IEEE Automotive Ethernet Compliance
The VETH100A1DD1 ESD protection diode in a DFN1006 package has passed all three OPEN Alliance EMC tests for IEEE 10BASE-T1S and previously cleared 100BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1 standards. With capacitance below 1 pF, it preserves signal integrity on automotive single-pair Ethernet buses while supporting both multidrop 10 Mbit/s links and point-to-point 100 Mbit/s and 1 Gbit/s architectures. This broad compliance simplifies ESD protection design across automotive networking topologies.
