VisionWave Gains Eight-Month Exclusive Rights to Liberia Blocks LB-4 & LB-5 With $600K Signing Bonus
VisionWave secured an eight-month exclusive Letter of Engagement for offshore petroleum Blocks LB-4 and LB-5 in Liberia, with an initial $300,000 signing bonus per block. The agreement provides a conditional pathway to a Production Sharing Contract, subject to prequalification, regulatory approvals and legislative ratification.
1. Letter of Engagement Terms
VisionWave entered into an exclusive Letter of Engagement with the National Oil Company of Liberia for Blocks LB-4 and LB-5, granting eight months to negotiate a Production Sharing Contract. The LOE requires a $300,000 signing bonus per block, refundable if the blocks are not awarded for reasons beyond VisionWave’s control.
2. Introducing RF-Based Exploration Capabilities
The company intends to deploy its proprietary RF sensing and imaging technologies alongside traditional seismic methods to improve detection of complex subsurface formations. This marks VisionWave’s first exploration application outside defense and security, aiming to add new data layers in offshore workflows.
3. Financial Commitments and Conditions
Post-PSC, VisionWave expects data licensing fees of at least $1 million per block and signature bonuses of $1 million per block, potentially offset through farm-out or partner arrangements. All payments and the final PSC depend on successful prequalification by the Liberia Petroleum Regulatory Authority and legislative ratification.
4. Strategic Implications and Risks
This initiative represents a strategic expansion into the global energy sector, leveraging defense-grade RF platforms for industrial-scale opportunity. Execution faces significant geopolitical, regulatory and operational risks in Liberia, and technical feasibility and commercial viability of RF technologies in offshore exploration remain unproven.
