Vocus plans 4,000-km Brisbane-Darwin long-haul fibre route, targets 2030 service launch

Vocus Group announced early works for a new 4,000-kilometer ducted long-haul fibre route linking Brisbane, Townsville, and Darwin.
The project is the second build under its Australian Digital Infrastructure Platform, targeting hyperscaler, neocloud, and enterprise demand.
The route design allows up to 3,456 fibre strands, aiming to lift capacity, diversity, and resilience on the east coast–north corridor.
Vocus said the ready-for-service target is set for 2030, extending its ducted inter-capital approach beyond the Sydney–Melbourne build.
