1. Operators explore joint bid
Vodafone, Deutsche Telekom, Orange and Telefónica signed a letter of intent to explore a joint European mobile satellite services spectrum bid. The initiative would give all mobile network operators open, non-discriminatory access to offer direct-to-device services.
2. Satellite partner not selected
Plans call for ground network infrastructure in Europe and a satellite partner, yet to be selected, to provide the constellation. The operators will not invest directly in a satellite constellation, and their existing satellite partnerships will remain unchanged.
