Vodafone urges EU to update open internet rules to allow separate enterprise-grade connectivity services

Vodafone pressed for separate B2B services to be carved out from open internet restrictions when they are distinct from consumer access, with transparency to regulators.

The company flagged a €475 billion mobile investment need over the next decade versus about €270 billion forecast, implying a gap above €200 billion.

It warned that regulatory uncertainty is slowing 5G standalone and network slicing deployment, and cited 63% European coverage by Q3 2025.

Vodafone urged the EU to modernize open internet rules, arguing current regulation no longer fits networks supporting guaranteed-performance enterprise services.

The company called for consumer internet access to remain open, banning blocking, throttling, or unfair prioritization of public internet traffic.
