Volkswagen Group launches “For Europe” competitiveness initiative focused on EVs, batteries, software and AI
Volkswagen launched its “For Europe” initiative to support regional value chains and sustainable jobs, focusing on electric mobility, batteries, software, AI and energy systems. Europe accounted for 44% of its global deliveries in 2025, when the company had 476,400 employees there.

Volkswagen AG launched its “For Europe” initiative ahead of the Paris Motor Show, highlighting electric mobility, battery technology, software, artificial intelligence and energy systems. CEO Oliver Blume urged policymakers to set clearer direction on “Made in Europe,” CO₂ regulation and trade with China, describing competitiveness as a shared responsibility between industry and government.
2. Paris discussion planned
Volkswagen plans a high-level “For Europe” discussion in Paris on Oct. 11, 2026, one day before the show opens. Europe accounted for 44% of Volkswagen’s global deliveries in 2025, and the company had 476,400 employees there.
